OKRs and Tech teams have a bit of a difficult relationship. OKRs are about improvements, and in many cases, it means that the Product team chooses the focus. Your Tech team is like the executional hand that helps Product achieve its OKRs. You should work towards the same direction. If Product decides that focusing on improving site speed is important, then this is where your focus should be as well.
However, Tech teams might want to improve their internal processes and in those cases having separate OKRs makes sense. Keep in mind, OKRs and projects are not the same thing. It’s not about listing all the tasks that the team has to do but thinking about what positive and measurable outcome those actions should eventually produce.
